What
you get for free, and what you get when you buy the full version
The
demo for Virtual Impact is free for anyone to download.
The setup file is about 32 Megs long.
This file can be downloaded using a phone line internet
connection, but it will take about and hour and a half or so,
depending on traffic. High speed internet connections will be much faster.
The demo contains a tutorial, two arcade game versions of
Virtual Impact, and the first campaign mission and instant action
world. Also included
are some previews to the remaining four missions and two instant
action worlds that come with the full version.
Once this demo is downloaded, all that is needed to convert
the game into the full version is a 17-digit access code that will
be entered into a menu option.
Click on the "Buy Now" button on this website to
purchase the activation code using a credit card.
Download
and Installation Instructions

to wait as long as 30 seconds for a message box to appear.
2) Click the "Save" button.
3) Specify where on your PC you want the setup file to be placed
and click "Save" again.
The download will begin.
This will take a while, depending on the speed of your
internet connection.
4) The name of the setup file is VIsetup.exe.
Once the download is complete, double click this file to
begin the installation of Virtual Impact on your PC.
5) A wizard will appear. Click
"Yes," "Next," or "Install" to every
question the wizard asks you.
This will install the game on your PC.
6) To run the game, double click the "Virtual Impact"
icon that appears on your desktop or
click
"Start" on your desktop, then "Programs," then
"Virtual Impact," and then "Virtual Impact"
again.
7) This will bring up a Virtual Impact menu bar. From it, select
"Game," and then "Start."
Do not adjust the "Display Options" the first
time you run the game. Adjust
the display options one at a time to your preferences once you get
the game running.
8)
You must have Direct X installed on your PC before this
game can run. PCs
running Windows ME or 2000 or later will already have DirectX
installed. If your PC
is older than that and you do not have DirectX installed already,
you can go to to www.microsoft.com
and download DirectX for free.
However, on PCs that are five years old or older, this may
be risky since DirectX may not be compatible with machines of that
age and DirectX can not be uninstalled without reformatting your
entire hard drive. Microsoft
provides DirectX free to all users, but they will not help you out
if it screws up your computer.
PCs that are three years old or younger are probably safe
from this hazard.
